Steve’s Hardwoods is an independent hardwood lumber business, located in Bucyrus, OH. We have been producing cabinet grade lumber for the Central Ohio area since 1990. We are currently looking for a hardworking, motivated individual to work in all labor areas at our company.

General Labor Responsibilities

• Employees must put safety at high priority; working safely, accurately and efficiently for all tasks

• Provide excellent customer service to our patrons to complete sales

• Pull, organize and stack lumber

• Identify lumber species

• Run equipment: including forklift and wheel loader

• Operate machinery and power tools: including, but not limited to sander, planer, straight line saw, circular saw, and drill press

• Employees in all positions, including general labor positions, must have excellent attendance and a commitment to perform at an above average level. We expect employees to report time off work in advance when possible, and to provide notification when missing work unexpectedly.

• Willingness to work together in a team environment and contribute in a variety of ways as the tasks necessitate.

Required Skills

• A commitment to safety, and a dedication to perform at an exceptional level.

• Situational awareness, manual dexterity and good judgment.

• Workers must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job including long periods of standing, bending, and lifting lumber, sometimes in excess of 50 lbs.

• Ability to use the computer for sales transactions.

• Basic math and communication skills.

• Must have good attendance, a good work ethic and ability to work in a team environment.

Risk and Exposure

• Employees will be exposed to wood dust

• Employees may work in outdoor environment

• Employees may be exposed to exterior temperatures and elements

• Employees will be operating machinery, which must be operated safely

• Employees may be required to use products such as wood stains/varnishes, and wood glue

Required Experience

For this position, no prior experience is required, but employees must be at least 18 years old. Individuals will receive on-the-job training. Experience working with lumber and/or machinery is a plus.

Position Type

Full-Time/Regular. Steve’s Hardwoods typically operates M-F 8-11, 1-5 for a total of 40 hours weekly. Occasionally, Employees are asked to work Saturday 9-1, and are paid overtime.
